Anticoagulation in patients with impaired renal function and with haemodialysis.
Patients with impaired renal function are exposed to an increased risk for bleeding complications depending on the amount of the anticoagulant eliminated by the kidneys. The elimination of unfractionated heparins, vitamin K antagonists and argatroban is only minimally influenced by a reduced renal function. Low-molecular weight heparins, fondaparinux, danaparoid, hirudins and nonvitamin K antag...
متن کاملCiprofloxacin pharmacokinetics in patients with normal and impaired renal function.
The pharmacokinetics of ciprofloxacin following single oral doses of 500 and 750 mg in 32 patients with various degrees of renal function impairment were investigated in an open, randomized crossover fashion. Ciprofloxacin was administered after overnight fasting; the washout time between the two doses was 1 week. Serum and urine samples were collected serially between 0 and 24 h and subjected ...
متن کاملPharmacokinetics of rufloxacin in patients with impaired renal function.
The pharmacokinetics of rufloxacin were investigated in normal subjects and in patients with various degrees of renal failure after the administration of a single oral 400-mg dose. Twenty-four subjects were classified by glomerular filtration rate (GFR) normalized for body surface area. Group 1 subjects had GFRs of > 80 ml/min, group 2 subjects had GFRs from 30 to 80 ml/min, group 3 subjects ha...
متن کاملUse of 5-fluorocytosine in patients with impaired renal function.
The plasma level and elimination of 5-fluorocytosine (5-FC) was measured in normal subjects and patients with impaired renal function. Prolongation of the half-life of the drug in renal failure has been confirmed. Renal clearance of 5-FC was about 75% of the creatinine clearance and a corresponding modification of drug dosage should be made in patients with renal insufficiency.
